Entry 49

Watching Pope's funeral ceremony, my father said, " I'm glad that great men and men of God are still respected around this world in which there is cruelty every where ..."
I, myself, enjoyed people's emotions as well as religious songs , but I think the ceremonies and formalities were too much ...

Bonjour Chackavak,Old Jean-Paul was certainly an outstanding pope, the first non-Italian for 450 years. He made great efforts to create better understanding between the different religions on this globe. In some other respects he was however not forward looking at all. He opposed birth-control everywhere and resisted agains the marriage of priests. No women in this job! I once said to my wife, in her case I would quit and choose one with more respect for her kind. But she said to me you don't understand. Maybe.

Hi GeorgThanks a lot for your commentI also believe he was a great manI could see his pure and shiny face as I always see in my great & lovely president " Mohammad Khatami "And I'm happy that " Khaatami " could attend the Pope's funeral ceremony , because he believes in peace in the world and he always talks about this matter everywhere as Pope had always done ...Best Wishes

Bonjour Chackavak,Thanks for your comments on my comments. Yes, your President has a friendly, open face. Likeable. And I once heard he worked for some years in Hamburg. Their face is the only thing the politicians can't hide. If I may say so: never use the word lovelyfor a man! Not for your president and not for your brother.
A girl is lovely, a thing or a situation. not a man. No hard feelings, I hope.Und wird man alt wie eine Kuh, man lernt immer noch dazu.

Bonjour Chackavak,Well, the meaning of this German proverb is that you keep on learning whatever your age. I prefer not to give you the exact translation, you might consider this to be offensive. In German it is just fun and you would certainly laugh, but in English you might think I am overstepping the bounds. One never knows, right?

Bonjour Chackavak,As to your question, I am German and I live here in France with my French wife. She gives you her greetings. On Entry 43 of your webside, I saw the German edition of "Sophie's Choice", so I thought you might know this language. Glad to hear you appreciated the book, it is certainly great reading. They even made a movie out of it. Forget it, waste of money. So you know some French, too. Which language came easier to you considering that Farsi is neither of germanic nor latin origin? Last thing: you are a good photographer. Your pictures are always clear and the essentials are where they should be. I would like to send you some, too, but the system does not permit this. Tant pis.Georg
